About Manchester Locksmith 24
Who we are
This site is published by Manchester Locksmith 24. We work on locks at the address where the lock is — front doors, uPVC mechanisms, break-in repairs — across Manchester and Greater Manchester. There is no shop counter, so you will not find a postal address on this site. That is not an oversight.
Alongside the service pages there is a set of guides about locks and doors. They exist because most of the calls we take start with somebody standing outside in the rain who does not know whether this is a five-minute job or a new door.
How the guides get written
Written and checked in-house, in this order:
What has actually happened. A euro cylinder that turns but does not lift the mechanism is a different problem from a snapped key, and the first job of a guide is to help you tell them apart.
What it means for the door. British Standard ratings, snap resistance, what an insurer usually asks for. Where a standard applies we name it — BS 3621, TS007 — and where we are describing common practice rather than a requirement, we say that too.
What you can do before anyone arrives. Sometimes that is quite a lot. Sometimes it is nothing but "stop turning the key". Either way it comes before the part about phoning us.
When it was last looked at. Every article carries a date.
Prices
The figures on the service pages are typical Greater Manchester ranges, gathered so you can judge a quote somebody has given you. They are not a price list and they are not a quote. The price for your door depends on the lock, the door and the time of night, and you get it on the phone before anyone sets off.
What you will not find here
- Reviews or a star rating. We have not collected verifiable reviews, so none are published.
- A postal address. We work at your address, not ours.
- A named author. No byline is better than a byline that answers for nothing. The publisher is responsible for what is here; details are in the legal notice.
- Certification logos or trade-body badges. A logo on a web page verifies nothing. If a credential matters to you, ask for the number and check it with the body that issued it.
- Photographs of our own work. The images on this site are illustrative.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — an outdated standard, a price that no longer holds, a method that has been superseded — send it to us from the contact page and it gets fixed.
